TAPS Show Cancelled Over COVID-19 Concerns

The following statement has been released from the organizers of the 2020 TAPS Raleigh Pipe Expo.
The 2020 TAPS Raleigh Pipe Expo has been cancelledAs of this morning we are cancelling our annual Raleigh Pipe Expo scheduled for April, 4th 2020 due to the threat of the unique Coronavirus COVID-19.
State of EmergencyYesterday our North Carolina Governor, Roy Cooper has declared a state of Emergency. Please see the notice below:https://governor.nc.gov/news/governor-cooper-declares-state-emergency-respond-coronavirus-covid-19

Why Cancel?

Why cancel and what this means?Although the local threat does not seem that great at the moment the situation is developing very fast and it is impossible to predict where we will be in a few weeks time. In making this difficult decision we carefully considered the following:-The majority of our attendees are elderly, making risk of exposure extremely dangerous for most of our market demographic. A risk that we dare not take-Ground zero for exposure in NC was RDU, which means that it is likely that Covid-19 is more widely spread in the Triangle than we are currently aware. In several weeks time it may be widespread.-Forging on with the show may likely result in low turnout, which would be financially damaging to the club, the future of the show and that of you, our valued partners.
In making this decision now we are hoping that you are all able to cancel your travel plans at minimal loss. Over the next couple week, we will be connecting with you individually to discuss a full refund of your table vending fees.As much as we enjoy hosting this event and despite all of the time and effort that we have already invested, we feel that it is in the best interest of all involved. That includes you as our valued vendor partners, our club membership and the general public.TAPS has a 22 year history of hosting this annual event so we did not make this decision lightly but, do feel the need for extreme caution. We do ask for your understanding and sincerely hope to continue the tradition in 2021 and beyond with your support. We hope for the best for you and your families in this difficult and confusing time.
