The Story
Founder, Alan Rubin and Vice President, Ralph Montero were inspired by the beauty of a “Magical Starry, Starry Night” standing in the tobacco fields and proposed a whiskey “Toast” with over those crops that would later become Magic ToastCigars. (So, the story goes.)
The Optics
At first glance, the wrapper has a dark coffee color to it. The seams were tight, though the cap was looking to separate a little on this one, but all other seams were good. The band was very inviting to look at as it has elements that coincide with the story of where this cigar got its name.
My Take
I do not have years of cigar smoking under my belt and my palette has not been mastered by any stretch of the imagination but I will say this, the coffee and earth notes seemed to continue for me all the way through the entire cigar. I did sense the little pepper and a light dark fruit but not really that pronounced. You may taste something different for yourself, as some have said cherries. With this cigar, I did not have any trouble with the draw or the burn at all, which is nice. I found it in the Medium to Full category, which is my wheelhouse. Also, I could pair it with a Coffee/Expresso, Whiskey or a great Cabernet Sauvignon (I’m partial to the Howell Mountain variety). Would I smoke this cigar again and or buy a box? Absolutely.
I smoked this one by the pool, so I will have to smoke another one at night under the stars, away from the Vegas Lights! Maybe a Gordo size next time!
