Matches860 Tribute Pipe

There has been a ton of talk around the YouTube Pipe Community about doing tribute pipes, special commissions and even a signature pipe tobacco blend. Some of those projects are already in the works.

One of the projects is a Commemorative Savinelli 673 KS Roma pipe which John Harden (Matches860) affectionately called his “Friday Savinelli”. Eddie Gray at The Pipe Nook spoke with representatives at the Savinelli Company and arrangements to begin production of that pipe is now officially underway.

We spoke to Eddie about the pipe and what the plans are. He told us “the pipe is a Roma Lucite 673, but with two custom stampings: The first stamping along the bottom would say Matches860 and numbered x of xxx, how ever many we land on.  And the second stamping would say “The Friday Savinelli.” 

On The Pipe Nook’s Friday Night Light Show, the Eddie talks about the pipe and how it all came together. He also answers some questions from the audience about how long it will take to have the pipes made and if it will be available outside his normal shipping area.

The preorder is for a limited time and a minimum number of order must be reached before production will begin. Currently on the Pipe Nook’s website it explains the preordering process.

This is a preorder, which will run until March 1st, 2020. I’ll do my best to order as many extras as I can, but please place your preorder now to ensure you will receive a pipe in this limited run. Once preorders are complete, I will commission the production. From that point, my best estimate is that you will receive your pipe within 3 to 6 months’ time. What is the Friday Savinelli?

If you are not familiar with the term Friday Savinelli, it is referring to John Harden’s favorite pipe. He often smoked it while hosting his Friday Night Live Show on YouTube.

The specifications of the 673 KS are as follows:

Ordering Outside The US

The question came up about orders from outside the United States or Florida residents. At this point you can contact The Pipe Nook at this link and explain where you are and that you would like to preorder however many pipes you want. If they will be able to fill that order an invoice will be sent to you. Do Not order the pipe using the standard website shopping cart, use the contact form.

How Long Will It Take?

As explained on the live show, it will take several weeks for the pipes to be manufactured from the time the preorders are sent in. Which will be sometime after March 1st, 2020. Then it will take some time after that until the shipment can get to the United States and distributed to the purchasers. The entire process may take two or three months. Eddie, along with the Briar Report will keep you informed of any progress updates as they come in.
