Catching Up After A Hard Day of Pipe Smoking

I see that some of you have taken advantage of the sale on Pulvers’ Briars for tins of tobacco. They went up at the beginning of the week and are selling out fast. The horde of tins comes from a customer of Pulvers Briars that is divesting, which could be good news for those trying to pad their cellar. Mostly C & D blends with some G.L. Pease and a few others. All at great prices.

Looks like most of it has been sold, but still enough left to choose from. May as well pick up a couple while you’re over there window shopping, or even if you found that pipe you’ve been looking for. That’s what I do everyday.

It’s My Job

On Tuesday I was feeling great. Got a chance to watch Popping The Tin then the live shows. Smoking my pipe, several actually, and watching pipe videos. Incredible! The best part of all is when “someone” yells to me, asking what the heck I’m doing for so long, I just say I’m working. And I’m not lying. Being on top of the pipe smoking news and information game is a tough business, but somebody’s got to do it.

Stayed up watching until after 10 pm, my time. That part was a mistake. I get up too early to be doing that. Cut into the time I normally Blob, therefore there wasn’t one yesterday. Man, was I tired. But I’m back on track (mostly) now and searching for that news.

U.S.A. No. 1

On the News Website today I linked to a story of the Top 12 countries that produce tobacco. There were no surprises on the list, except I didn’t expect to see Canada on it. Who knew? Never heard of a cigar that had a Canadian Shade wrapper, or G.L. Pease bragging about the Canadian Burley in his blends. Maybe they do use that and I’ve never known. That would actually be pretty cool.

Around where I live, just across the river, they produce Ice Wine. They let the grapes hang on the vine until after it frosts, then pick them. I understand it makes for interesting wine, although I’ve never tried it myself. Wonder if anyone’s tried to make Ice Tobacco? Cool smoke. There’s an idea for all you independent blenders out there. I might have given you the greatest business idea ever. Or possibly the worst. You never know, right?

Jerks

Anyway, the second half of that article stinks. The first half they give you outright, then the second half you will get mad. One of those sites that you have to click on each page to get the next one. That way their ad views go up by 600% even though you are reading one article. If that’s not bad enough, you have to navigate the page like Luke Skywalker flying down the air shaft with ads popping up every two seconds. I almost regret linking to it. Or maybe that was Star Track. I can never remember the difference.

You will never see us doing that to you on this website. There are a handful of ads, either off to the side or down below. Check them out, maybe click on something you find interesting. Not popping up in your face driving you mad. I don’t like ad blockers because the advertisers pay for the content, but there is a line that can be crossed.

Probably shouldn’t be writing about this or you won’t click on the story.

Pipe Ninja

I’ve gotten word that The Pipe Ninja is hard at work training for his next video which is scheduled to come out at the end of this month. I can hardly wait. This one is going to be a lot different from the first one, which was produced for a special occasion.

Fu~īrapu Rīvaara-san, the great pipe sensei is taking The Pipe Ninja to levels he never imagined. Learning such moves as The Buddha Palm, and the Kyokushin Elbow Shot. Scary stuff in the hands of the wrong person, I can tell you that. Fu~īrapu has been known to gouge someone’s eyeballs out while relighting his pipe at the same time.

Subscribe to the Pipe Ninja so you won’t miss it when the video comes out. And for G-d’s sake, don’t let the kids watch.

London Calling

LCS Briars has done some repricing on his website. That would be London Calling Simon for those who are not in the know. Just trying to help with  the branding.

There are a lot of people who say they want one of his pipes, but just not right now. Well, considering his restructuring of the pricing, you’re probably not going to have a better time. The link we have to him on our News Website takes you to his commerce site, not the YouTube channel. There you will find the gallery, and his most recent pipes.

It is worth a look if you like LCS Briars pipes. He has a style that is a mix of traditional shapes with a twist. If I’m describing it correctly. Not afraid to go outside the box, if you know what I mean, but sticking pretty close to the shapes that have stood out over time.

Now I have to go and catch up on all the stuff I missed yesterday. It was Chad’s fault.
